Birds of Prey

Eagles, hawks, ospreys and falcons are all part of the group referred to as birds of prey or raptors. They are relentless hunters for the meat they must consume to live. This is accomplished through some combination of exceptional speed, surprising quickness, accute hearing and keen eyesight. Razor sharp talons and hooked beaks also enable them to kill and consume their prey. Photographing birds of prey can, at times, be very graphic but it is nature very vividly on display. This group of birds includes a wide range of body size, appearance and habits and it is my favourite subject to photograph in the avian world. Please enjoy a few examples.
